Alpha is an eight week course that millions of people all around the world have done, which lets people investigate Jesus and the Christian faith in a relaxed and non-threatening way. Each week we have a meal together that gives everyone the opportunity to get to know one another. Then there is a short, thought-provoking talk. After dessert, it's time for an open discussion. No questions are off limits and everyone is free to think and say what they want.

Alpha offers a rare opportunity to delve into life's biggest issues in a way that is relaxed, friendly and fun.

Alpha is ideal for those who:

  • Aren't sure if they believe in God
  • Have given up on church

Questions, questions, questions … I love finding answers.

What's the most difficult question that you can think of to ask a Christian? I had plenty, I even wrote them down so I could keep a store of all the questions that I could not answer.

That was until one day, I was presented with an opportunity where I could take my piece of paper and ask my most difficult questions. It was an Alpha course. It gave me opportunity to listen, to ask and think about life.

It was the first time that I had been around people who had a relationship with the One True God. And I was intrigued about what it meant to them. Through the weeks of the Alpha course I made new friends, and began to acknowledge the existence of God.

I could not deny the existence of God after he healed me from a long term injury.

This healing was an event that spurred me on to know him more, and this is a journey that continues. God continues to heal me now, he heals my heart as well as my body. He uses the Bible to let me get to know him, and his Spirit to empower me each day.

I live in the knowledge that Jesus died for my sins, and saved me from hopelessness and darkness. He brought me into the light, and I now have a relationship with Him that is forever and fantastic.

Well I've always known there was a God - that question didn't come into my head. I was just not in a relationship with him.

I'd seen posters on the back of buses and stuff and all I can remember is the invitation to "Explore the Meaning of Life." I wondered what this meant, I didn't consider it to be directly linked with God.

Then some Christians invited me to an Alpha Course. My response was "I've heard of that, alright I'll see what it's about." So I went to an introductory meal and the rest is history.

The Alpha Course has given me so much to be grateful for - from having a relationship with God to being in his world wide family. I mean it changed my life when I knew that God loved me, it really did.

It's the case that I live each day knowing God's love for me and knowing his forgiveness. What else can I say? It's just let me know the purpose of life and the meaning of love.
